But WAIT!! Before you rush to see where to buy Ecoslay maybe you want to know a little bit more about these natural products? This is my Ecoslay review and I hope it helps you too.
Disclaimer: Ecoslay has never sent their products to me for review. I have always purchased and re-purchased these products. Everything you're about to read here stems from my experience of using these products over the course of 2019. Should the brand change its formula hereafter then this review will no longer remain valid. User discretion advised.
If you've never heard of Ecolsay, it's 100% homemade, CG safe, created by a small business owner Adria Marshall and they respect the environment - translation - these products are made to order so you have two weeks waiting time and then delivery time so do not expect Amazon-prime service with this brand. The shelf life of the products is 9 months and they HAVE to be refrigerated too.
Ecoslay has oil and a new protein treatment as well but I have only used these products. Once I try the others, I will edit this article later :) For now, consider this summary as your introduction. And guess what?! Ecoslay is coconut-oil free! I use them in this order too.
- Peppermint Schnapps hair wash - the cleanser
- Ginger and Moringa Tea - ACV spray
- Banana Cream - conditioner/deep conditioner/leave-in
- Orange Marmalade - hair gel

Peppermint Schnapps Hair Wash
This is a unique shampoo that as the ability to moisturize, detangle and cleanse in one scalp-stimulating step!
Ingredients: Marshmallow-Infused Water, Aloe Vera Juice, Cocoa pod ashes, Plantain skins ashes, Palm kernel oil, Coconut oil, Jojoba Oil, Honey, Caprylhydroxamic acid, Peppermint Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Lavender Essential Oil.
- The organic oils and aloe, moisturize
- Marshmallow-Infused Water helps in detangling
- African Black Soap is the cleansing agent but also has healing properties.
- More on ingredients here.
How I use it: First, I don't use it every wash and I never use it with other brands too. I love using this whole line together and I reserve the use of this cleanser for the times when I use the whole line together. I do not combine this cleanser with another product cocktail to maintain the integrity of the whole line - I recommend using whole product lines together for best results since the brand formulates their products to complement each other.
However, if you have fine hair or hair with low density I do not recommend you use this cleanser each wash too. Only because the ratio of oils in this cleanser is much higher than the cleansing agent and using it frequently may weigh your hair down.
Be sure to shake the bottle before use! I didn't at first and wondered why it didn't lather. The lather comes from the African Black Soap so shake it before use, it helps.
Ginger and Moringa Tea
This is exactly where (and perhaps why) this Tea comes to play! There's a learning curve with the cleanser so when I use THIS tea right after the cleanser, it balances that filmy-feeling the oils from the cleanser were giving me.
Ingredients: Ginger extract, Moringa extract, Aloe Vera Juice, Apple Cider Vinegar, Optiphen Plus.
- Ginger is a stimulater for scalp and also healing for scalp issues
- Moringa is rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin E, helps hair growth and reduction of hair loss.
- Aloe repairs dead skin cells and is a conditioning agent
- ACV balances the ph level of your scalp and hair!
You know how much I love and recommend ACV rinses! For me, the ACV in this spray removes excess oils (from this cleanser) Not sure how it would work for you. Use your discretion.
The second reason I love using this tea (and I use it with all other products too! ) is that I immediately notice my hair stays moisturized for longer days, clumps better, and is shinier too. I recommend this Tea for everyone because using it improves the overall style longevity, manageability, and strength - shouldn't that be the ultimate hair goal? Mine is! Anyway, this is how I use it; read brand instructions Here!
I love this thing! It's moisturizing and deeply penetrates to nourish even the driest hair! It has amazing slip! And yes, it can be left in, pairing superbly with Orange Marmalade and now you understand why I used so many exclamation points!
However, because it's so moisturizing, it can be too moisturizing for fine hair or low-density hair. Don't use it as a leave-in if your hair weighs down easily. I use only a tiny bit as a leave-in or bowl method before gel.
As a deep conditioner, I love mixing it with my other deep conditioners or for DIRTY DC, however, I realized I was using too much after watching Taylor Ann apply it in this video. You need very little and hence, a 4oz tub of this Banana Cream can last you much longer than you can imagine.
The Instagram and Facebook community has been raving about this gel for the last two years! It's protein-free, glycerine free, gives frizz-free hard hold (for some) easy to apply, great slip, and of course with all the water-based ingredients what's not to love?
Ingredients: Flaxseed extract, Agave nectar extract, Pectin, Aloe Vera juice, Marshmallow Root Extract, Vitamin E, Xanthan Gum, Optiphen Plus, Sweet Orange Essential Oil.
Except, it doesn't work like that unless you use it correctly! This gel can give you a mean cast, I mean, a crazy glossy cast that wouldn't even break with bare hands and my hair looked grand GRAND! Was I able to get it every time I used it? No. Because using/combining this gel with other products varied my results greatly.
First, with my experience of testing products for nearly three years, I believe a gel cast does not happen on over-moisturized hair. So if you aren't getting a gel cast your hair is moisturized or maybe you're probably overdoing something in your routine. In this case, scale back on your cream or cleanse your hair thoroughly to remove buildup before you get this gel to truly work for you.
How I use it: For me, using it alone gives me soft defined natural-looking curls for two days; using only a blob for my hair.
Which Leaveins Pair well with Ecoslay Gel?
In my experience, Ecoslay is kind-of-proteiny with the flaxseed and aloe mimicking plant proteins and all that; so logically it's best to pair protein-free moisture leaveins before the gel for coarse thick hair.
I have tried this with protein-free leave-in like Bounce Curl but that didn't work for me. So I prefer introducing a little protein before this gel.
For best results, though, I absolutely love using it as my last gel in my 123 Gel Method on damp hair.
For the stronghold it can give, I love using the Orange Marmalade gel for sleek curly hairstyles like this too.
For me and many others combining this gel with other gels gave better/long-lasting results so if you haven't got this gel to work for you yet, layer it with others and use it last for the glycerin-free-ness benefit to fight humidity!
